Hey Slavic majors,|
Those of you into Russian literature might have read Master and Margarita by Bulgakov. The story's all fun and pretty until you try sorting out the real, metaphorical meaning and allusions behind this.. there is contradictory and insufficient commentary online. in general, there are some russian sites, while english sites offer only paid information. i found the russian sites deal more with biographical info than with the work at hand.. do any of you know good sources for analyzing the novel? Or maybe you took a class and would like to discuss?
Are Gorky and his wife really Master and Margarita, who were bought by the authorities? Voland is Stalin/Lenin, fine.. but I remain confused concerning the whole work. I have a hunch that this is quite complicated.
Also, Master = Christ is my independent thought, which seems to fit, but yet- no way!
